Mityana Charity

Ann Potts with the Bishop of Mityana

The Mityana Charity (Reg. Charity 1064825) aims to alleviate poverty and to promote education and the Christian faith in Mityana, Uganda.  Over the years St. Sebastian’s church has been very involved with this work.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN!  The roots of the Charity go back to the visit of a former Vicar from St. Sebastian’s Church, and since then members of the church have maintained close contacts with Mityana.

SUPPORT FROM THE CHURCH  St. Sebastian's has sponsored the training of clergy in Mityana, including that of their youngest Archdeacon (pictured left with a red stole). The church has also supported the very successful visits of our young people to Uganda.  Ann Potts (Lay Minister) has undertaken much teaching and preaching in Mityana Diocese and our Our Vicar, Andrew Marsden, visits Mityana for the first time!vicar Andrew Marsden has also visited the area.

JUST SOME OF THE THINGS OUR PEOPLE HAVE HELPED THE MITYANA CHARITY TO DO!

Sponsored the Education of Many Children

Built a School and a Clinic

Helped Develop Medical Facilities

Taken Collections to Raise Money
for Bicycles for Lay Readers

Collected Money to Provide Precious Bibles

Developed "A Child Unheard" Centre in Collaboration with the Charity

Youth visits and individual visits have helped many projects and left people who experienced the hard lives and poverty of these friendly people saying “we will never be the same again”.
